The seminar will offer Learning and Sharing in two perspectives: The People—and The Technology.

The People

Learn about Appalachian Culture from two experts in Ohio—what do you need to know to work successfully with local folks-your clients and your volunteers?

Hear from Judith Millesen –Associate Professor in the Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs at Ohio University. Key information on what to expect from university student volunteers and how best to work with them.

Business-Centered Volunteerism: How do you contact a large corporation or local financial institution? What types of volunteer work can their employees do to help your nonprofit? What does the business need from your nonprofit?

The Technology

SPECIAL, IN-DEPTH WORKSHOPWebsites and Resources –Feedback, comments. Review selected local websites. Look at various platforms, the cloud and volunteer-based software. PLUS Social Media –Review agency goals and how to enhance your connectedness through social media. Look at the need for policies, with specific techniques using Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Pinterest and other platforms.

Myths about Senior Volunteers—nonprofit leaders with many years of experience will share insights—Think you know senior citizens? Think again!

Networking opportunities: Share your ideas on the critical issues facing your nonprofit today—and hear the solutions and techniques of your colleagues.
