The library will be hosting performances and presentations indoors and outside, centering on events related to the Civil War era, Athens County, Morgan’s Raiders, etc.

  • 5:45 pm and 6:45 pm – Tales from the War—a veteran’s storywith John Murray
  • 6:30 pm – Songs of the Civil War Era performed by Nelsonville-York High School Advanced Choir
  • 7:10 pm – Little Cities of the Black Diamonds Temperance March
  • 7:30 pm – “Aunt Fanny” – Carolina Alvarez performs in her 30-minute original solo show about 19thcentury suffragist, abolitionist, and temperance proponent Frances Gage, known as “Aunt Fanny.” Born in Marietta, Ohio in 1808, Fanny became a world-traveling journalist, author, speaker, and activist. She made invaluable contributions to the socio-political climate of the Civil War era, and her story is a vital part of Mid-Ohio Valley’s history. A 10-15 min Q&A follows the performance.
