HAPCAP TO HOLD NEIGHBORHOOD MEETINGS IN ATHENS COUNTY

19 Apr

Input and ideas needed for potential projects in Chauncey and Nelsonville

The Community Development staff at Hocking Athens Perry Community Action (HAPCAP) is asking residents of Chauncey and residents of Nelsonville to attend community meetings to discuss ideas for neighborhood improvement.

HAPCAP is working with the Athens County Commissioners, the Village of Chauncey, and the City of Nelsonville to secure a competitive grant through the Ohio Development Services Agency. If funded, this grant can be used to perform a wide variety of community improvement projects.  Examples of eligible projects include sidewalk improvements and ADA curb ramps, street repairs, park improvements, playground equipment, storm drainage upgrades, and demolition of unsafe buildings.

Chauncey will hold its meeting on Tuesday, April 24 at 6:00 PM in the Chauncey-Dover Lions Club Community Center.  The center is located on 20 Mound Street, Chauncey OH 45719.  Nelsonville will hold its meeting on Thursday, April 26 at 6:00 PM at Nelsonville Wesleyan Church.  The church is located on 600 Chestnut Street, Nelsonville OH 45764.

“It is critical that the City of Nelsonville residents and the Village of Chauncey residents attend and participate in order to strengthen the grant application.  We need their input and look forward to hearing their ideas,” says Nathan Simons, Community Development Coordinator for HAPCAP.
